On Sunday, July 13, the cast and creatives behind the internationally-acclaimed movie ‘Sunshine’ appeared on the Kapamilya gameshow ‘Rainbow Rumble’.
Competing for the prize were stars Maris Racal, Elijah Canlas, and Meryll Soriano, together with director Antoinette Jadaone and producer Dan Villegas.
In the midst of their exciting match, the audiences and hosts Luis Manzano and Negi were surprised at one contestant for attempting to answer a particular question.
Manzano read, “Kumpletuhin ang hit song ng ’80s American pop group na Breakfast Club: Rick (blank).”
At that moment, Racal bested her competitors as she swiped on the sensor below and tried to answer it.
However, she was rather too quick, as she was still processing the question when she replied, “What? Rico, what?“
That response earned cheers and laughters from everyone in the studio, with Luis and her co-participants could not help but laugh.
It was a few seconds later when Maris finally got wind of what was occurring and simply shouted to express her shock.
Jokingly, Luis said to her, “Maris, hindi siya, ah.“
Due to that, Meryll was able to steal the question and answer it correctly with “Mambo” for ‘Rico Mambo’.
Anyhow, the lead actress of ‘Sunshine’ was still able to come out of the game victorious and was hailed as the winning rumbler of the night and was just one cube away from bagging the grand PHP 1 million pot money.
But the said moment has since gained traction on social media, with a clip posted on X, formerly Twitter, by user AltStarMagic having been viewed over 281,000 times and received 10,000 likes, as of writing.
‘Sunshine’ made its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in Canada, before it was brought to other festivals like the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival—where it won the Crystal Bear for the Best Film.
Meanwhile, Maris is also part of the ABS-CBN primetime action-drama series ‘Incognito,’ which is now down to last week on free-to-air television and streaming platforms.
