GMA-Regal collab series ‘Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune’ to air reruns on TV5

A plot twist, indeed.

A plot twist, indeed.

On Tuesday, June 16, TV5 announced on its social media pages the latest programming move in its Hapon Champion afternoon block.

Foremost, the Kapatid network has discontinued the K-sama Sa K-drama lineup, which has been down to just one series with The Empire that will air its final episode on Friday, June 19.

But for drama audiences, the channel is replacing its 3:15 pm slot with an unusual program—not for its theme, but the thought of it airing on TV5 is.

Starting Monday, June 22, Kapatid viewers will be witnessing the GMA Network and Regal Entertainment drama collaboration Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune.

Originally aired in 2022, it is the first of the trilogy that aired until early 2023. This installment is led by a powerhouse cast comprising Barbie Forteza, Boots Anson-Rodrigo, Sunshine Cruz, Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, David Licauco, Rob Gomez, Nikki Co, Dustin Yu, and more.

Its story follows Steffie (Barbie Forteza), who secured a job in Gold Quest as an assistant of Christine Chan (Sunshine Cruz).

Secrets within the Gold Quest empire will then unfold, along with the familial issues stemming from the matriarch Consuelo Chan (Boots Anson-Roa) affect the rest of the clan.

Towards the end of Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune, it was also subtly revealed that MPL will have a shared universe, with Irene Pacheco (Bianca Umali) and Richard Lim (Ken Chan) from the successor, Mano Po Legacy: Her Big Boss appearing for the first time in the franchise.

It is also the next project between GMA and Regal Entertainment that started with the weekly anthology Regal Studio Presents in 2021, which continues to air every Sunday afternoon featuring homegrown Kapuso stars and Regal artists as they bring various stories to life.

While the TV5 broadcast comes as a surprise, the Kapatid network is no stranger to airing past content of the Kapuso network.

For one, shows of both stations were previously aired under one roof through the Fox Filipino cable channel of the Fox Networks Group, which was available from 2012 to 2020.

When the channel was shuttered, TV5’s sister company Cignal established the short-lived One Screen channel, which also featured content from both networks.

Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune will air on TV5 from Monday to Friday at 3:15 pm beginning June 22.

UPDATE: TV5’s original post has since been deleted. This article will be updated once new information becomes available.
