On Thursday, July 10, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) jointly launched the digital driver’s license renewal system through the eGovPH app.

LTO Chief and Asec. Vigor D. Mendoza II shared that the move is aimed at ensuring a fast and comfortable way of transaction even if the clients are in their homes or offices.

This is a better alternative for going to LTO offices since you don’t need to shell out money for transportation to our offices and don’t even need to queue in any license renewal offices,” said Mendoza.

Within one hour of its availability, the LTO reported that the system of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) reached the 10,000 visitors mark.

For acting Asec. Greg G. Pua, Jr., the number of visitors is proof of drastic change in the terrain of government services and transactions as more and more people would prefer the convenience of digital platforms.

We are doing everything to make all the LTO transactions fast and comfortable to millions of our clients. Gone are the days that our clients would absent or take a leave of absence for their LTO transactions because they can now do so at the comfort of their homes, in their offices and even in any part of the country,” said Pua.

He also noted that this is beneficial not only to local employees busy with their work, but also foreign workers abroad.

In order to avail of this digital transaction, one needs to download and install eGovPh app in their smartphones which is available both in App Store and Google Play.

The app would then require security verification in order to protect the account, the feature was based on the coordination with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Once the eGovPh app is installed and ready for use, it will provide instructions for the transactions up to the point of tapping courier service delivery.

The following steps have also been provided by the LTO for further guidance of those seeking to avail the new service.

  1. Through eGov app, find the icon NGA, locate LTO, then click;
