ABS-CBN Studios, iWantTFC tease return of ‘MMK’

The longest-running drama anthology in Asia is gearing up for its comeback.

The longest-running drama anthology in Asia is gearing up for its comeback.

On Tuesday, April 1, ABS-CBN ignited nostalgia after sharing a teaser plug for one of its upcoming programs.

It read, “Ready ka na bang masaktan at ma-inspire nang sabay? Tumawa at umayak na may saktong hugot pero relatable?

Magbabalik na ang Magagandang Kwento ng Totoong Buhay,” the video continued with the letters M, M, and K being highlighted.

At the moment, the Kapamilya network has not yet disclosed more details regarding this show, which will be under ABS-CBN Studios and the iWantTFC platform.

But fans have already made their guesses, with them going in unison that this teaser refers to the comeback of Asia’s longest-running drama anthology program ‘Maalalaala Mo Kaya’ or commonly known by its acronym, ‘MMK.’

The program, which was hosted by Charo Santos-Concio, debuted on ABS-CBN in May 1991 and has remained as a fixture of the station until its closure in May 2020.

‘MMK’ then resumed airing on the Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live in 2020, with the A2Z broadcast coming later that year.

Although, in November 2022, after 31 years on the air, it was announced that the show would be ending its storied run by December 2022.

Its last story before going on what can be now considered as its hiatus was the three-part story titled ‘Scarlet Women.’

Since then, Charo Santos has remained visible on screen via the top-rating primetime drama series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ as Tindeng.
