The prestigious brand is finally incorporating local dining spots.
In an announcement on Tuesday, February 18, world-renowned Michelin Guide shared that its inspectors have begun traveling to multiple places in the Philippines for its 2026 edition.
“Our Michelin inspectors have been following the evolution of the Filipino culinary scene with great excitement. The country’s deep-rooted culinary traditions, combined with a strong openness to global influences, create a uniquely diverse dining culture,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide.
Poullennec also described Manila as place where they see “young, talented chefs redefining Filipino cuisine with fresh perspectives,” while Cebu “offers an impressive range of dining experiences with world-class hospitality.”
The Michelin Guide inspectors will be going around, incognito, in Manila, Tagaytay, Cavite, Pampanga, and Cebu, where they will meticulously critique the food based on their criteria.
These are the quality of ingredients, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, personality of the cuisine, and consistency in time and of the menu.
The full list of Michelin-rated restaurants in Manila and Environs & Cebu, which will be graded from 1 to 3 stars, will be announced in an event in late 2025.
