The mega-blockbuster flick has also taken the streaming world by storm.
In the Top Movies in the Philippines section of streaming platform Netflix, it listed the movie ‘Hello, Love, Again’ at Number 1.
This is the fourth straight day that the Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards romantic film had positioned itself at the leading spot since it was released last Thursday, February 13.
It is also one of the Filipino movies in the list, with Marian Rivera’s ‘Balota’ remaining part of the Top 10 at #6.
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, ‘Hello, Love, Again’ is the sequel to the highly-successful 2019 movie ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ which was the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all-time from its release until 2023.
In ‘Hello, Love, Again,’ Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards’ reprisal of their respective roles as Joy (or Marie, rather) and Ethan.
The movie’s main setting has also been moved to Canada, with events happening five years after the story of the first movie that was shot in Hong Kong.
Also part of the sequel film’s cast are Joross Gamboa, Valerie Concepcion, Jennica Garcia, Jameson Blake, Jeffrey Tam, and Lovely Abella.
‘HLA’ created records after records during its theatrical run in late 2024, as it became the first film in Philippine cinema’s 105-year-long history to have recorded Php 1 billion in gross ticket sales.
The reunion movie has also been able to claim other titles, such as for the highest opening day for any local film at Php 85 million on day 1; the highest single-day gross, when it logged Php 131 million on November 16; and the most-successful Filipino film in the US Box Office after becoming the Top 8 movie in the region during its first weekend.
It was also reported to have achieved the Highest Opening Day and Biggest Single Day gross in the region, as well as the Highest Opening Weekend Gross for a Filipino film in the UAE, KSA, and Qatar.
Moreover, ‘Hello, Love, Again’ also marked the first movie collaboration of Star Cinema and GMA Pictures, becoming the latest in the slate of joint ventures between rivals-turned-partners ABS-CBN and GMA Network.
