Love Radio’s ‘Tambalan’ ends after 20 years; Chris Tsuper to run for politics

The news comes weeks after the long-running radio program celebrated its anniversary.

The news comes weeks after the long-running radio program celebrated its anniversary.

On Friday, October 11, Love Radio on 90.7 FM in Mega Manila aired a special three-hour-long show of its popular talk and music program from 12:00 nn to 3:00 pm, ‘Tambalan’ with Chris Tsuper and Nicole Hyala.

The edition was unlike other broadcasts of ‘Tambalan’ as it centered around the send-off or despedida of one of the show’s main hosts, Chris Tsuper.

The disc jockey (DJ) is leaving not only the program, but also the radio industry at least for the time being as he prepares for his entry to politics in his hometown of Lucban, Quezon.

Also known by his real name Adrian Policena, he has been a fixture of Love Radio from his days as station manager of its Lucena station up to becoming the other half of ‘Tambalan’ since its inception in 2004.

But due to a company policy that requires employees to resign should they intend to run for public office, Chris Tsuper had to sign off for the final time on Friday, over a week after filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) in his hometown.

Besides his longtime on-air partner, DJ Nicole Hyala, the special edition of ‘Tambalan’ also welcomed their workmates in the station for the final ‘Ang Mahiwagang Burnay’ segment of the show, which turned into an emotional despedida on radio.

Some of the personalities present were Love Radio DJs Diego Bandido, Tanya Chinita, and Raqi Terra, among many others who gave their well-wishes to Chris as he enters a new world.

With the end of ‘Tambalan,’ Monday, October 14, will see the official debut of Love Radio’s new noontime show hosted by the tandem of Nicole Hyala and Diego Bandido.
