Alert Level 2 raised on Mayon Volcano
On Monday, PHIVOLCS raised Mayon Volcano in Albay to Alert Level 2 or “increasing unrest”. This comes after recording a higher number of rockfall events at the volcano, which went up from 5 per day to 49 per day since yesterday.
President Marcos appoints new secretaries for Health and Defense
President Marcos has appointed Dr. Teodoro Herbosa as the country’s new Secretary of Health. Prior to Herbosa’s appointment, the position sat vacant for almost a year under the current admin. The DOH, in the interim, was handled by Undersecretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire, who served as the officer-in-charge.
Lawyer Gilberto ‘Gibo’ Teodoro, Jr. was also appointed as the Secretary of the Department of National Defense. Teodoro had also served as the Secretary of Defense in the past, under former President Arroyo, from 2007 to 2009.
Google, PLDT trend on social media as users experience issues
On Monday, June 5, ‘Google’ and ‘PLDT’ became top trending topics in the Philippines. This, as users took to social media to share that they’re experiencing trouble accessing the services of the two companies.
On the Google side, services including Google Suite, Gmail, YouTube, among others, became difficult to access past 3:40 in the afternoon. As of press time, Google services remain hard to access. Google has also yet to issue a statement on the matter.
Meanwhile, subscribers of local telecom giant PLDT have also shared that they are also experiencing connectivity issues on Monday afternoon.

New chapter for ‘Eat Bulaga’ under TAPE as show resumes with new hosts
At 12 noon on Monday, June 5, 2023, a new era for ‘Eat Bulaga’ officially began as the new hosts for the country’s longest-running noontime variety program were introduced. They were GMA artists Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya, Buboy Villar, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi, and former ‘Tropang LOL’ host Alexa Miro. Sparkle girl group XOXO, minus Riel Lomadilla — who appears in OG ‘EB’ host Vic Sotto’s sitcom ‘Open 24/7, were also present during the relaunch.
