Showcasing the country’s strength in the continental sports scene.
On Thursday, April 30, the sixth Asian Beach Games wrapped up in Sanya, China with the closing ceremony held to celebrate the success of the nine-day event.
During which, the Philippines was able to clinch a total of nine medals, composed of 3 golds, 4 silvers, and 2 bronzes.
That achievement put the country among the top-performers at the event, finishing 5th in the overall medal tally—which the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has called as a “historic milestone that marks our highest-ranking finish in the history of the Asian Beach Games.”
This is a significant improvement for the country, which went from zero golds in our first three ABG campaigns (2008, 2010, 2012) to tying the all-time high of 3 gold medals in 2026 with Phuket 2014.
The three gold medalists are as follows: Leonard Grospe – Beach Athletics (Men’s High Jump); Annie Ramirez – Jiu Jitsu (Women’s -57kg); and Alexandria Luz Enriquez – Jiu Jitsu (Women’s -63kg).
Meanwhile, securing silver medals for the country are the Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 Team (Kaye Pingol, Mikka Cacho, Reynalyn Ferrer, Elisha Gabriell Bade) – 3×3 Basketball (Women); Team Philippines – Beach Athletics (Women’s 4x60m Relay); Emily Rosalynn Thomas – Jiu Jitsu (Women’s -57kg); and Dhenver John Castillo – Sailing (Foil Windsurfing Boys)
Meanwhile, the bronze medals came from Jessica Rose Laurance – Beach Athletics (Women’s 60m) and Jenna Kaila Napolis – Jiu Jitsu (Women’s -52kg)
During the closing ceremony, the torch was also officially passed to Cebu, Philippines, which will be the host city of the next Asian Beach Games in 2028.
