She joins several Filipino talents in the project.
In a report last Friday, March 20, entertainment trade publication Variety reported the latest additions to the cast of the upcoming DreamWorks Animation film entitled Forgotten Island.
Announced in the article to be the newest personalities joining the voice cast are the first Filipina Golden Globe Best Actress nominee Dolly de Leon, comedian Jo Koy, The Pitt star Amielynn Abellera, and The Daily Show staple Ronny Chieng.
Together, they join the powerhouse cast led by Filipina Broadway Diva Lea Salonga, along with Fil-Am singer H.E.R., actress Liza Soberano, as well as Filipino-Canadian actor Manny Jacinto.
In a post on her Instagram account, De Leon shared the reaction to her inclusion in the movie and wrote, “Over the moon with excitement and Pinoy pride to share Forgotten Island with the world. Nakakaproud maging Pinoy.”
Forgotten Island will center on the story of lifelong best friends Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Soberano), who will find themselves stuck on the island of Nakali—an enchanting, yet forgotten island rooted in Philippine mythology.
But the problem is that the only way home for the both of them will potentially require the loss of their cherished memories together.
The said film is set to be distributed in theaters by Universal Pictures once it comes out in September 2026.
