As the improvement works on the country’s main gateway continue.
New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the private operator of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), has listed the upcoming facilities that will be introduced at Terminal 3, as well as Terminal 1.
Set to be rolled out soon are new biometric Immigration eGates. With a total of 78 machines, these will allpw eligible passengers to complete immigration clearance in about 20 seconds, helping ease congestion during peak travel periods.
It uses the biometric identity verification and document authentication to streamline processing while meeting the security requirements of border authorities, shared the airport operator that funded the project as part of its airport modernization program.
Powered by global travel technology company Amadeus, the system is now being deployed at both Terminals 1 and 3, where international flights operate.
NEW FOOD HALLS
As previously shared, NNIC is also preparing to open two more food halls at Terminal 3, which will significantly increase dining capacity and choices for passengers.
First of which is the All-Filipino Food Hall, called Tambayan, which is a 6,200-square-meter dining space that can accommodate up to 2,000 people.
It features 17 homegrown brands, showcasing regional flavors and local products from across the Philippines. Through this, travelers will be able to experience Filipino cuisine at the airport.
Airside or for passengers that have passed through immigration and security checks, NNIC is also introducing a new Food Village, which will expand dining options for departing passengers.
It will feature a mix of well-known local and international brands, including Bebang Halo-Halo, The Cozy Kitchen, Lechon Diva, Bo’s Coffee, Mamak, Pho Hoa, Aristocrat, Cinnabon, Potato Corner, among others. “Additional outlets will open progressively as preparations are completed,” NNIC revealed.
These two will complement the Mezzanine Food Hall, which offers 22 stand-alone restaurants and cafés since its opening last October at Level 2.
In addition, there will also be a new Dignitaries Lounge at Terminal 3, designed to accommodate up to 61 distinguished guests.
“The lounge is intended to provide a more appropriate and welcoming setting for official engagements, reflecting Filipino hospitality while supporting NAIA’s role as the country’s primary international gateway,” according to the airport operator.
NNIC President Ramon Ang reflected on the improvements being done, “This shows how this partnership with the government is delivering improvements that the public can actually see and feel. As we enter the new year, we look forward to continuing this work and building on what is already in place.”
