On Saturday, October 25, streaming platform Prime Video officially debuted its newest offering, the live and extensive coverage of the National Basketball Association (NBA) games worldwide.

In the Philippines, the occasion was marked with a watch party in Makati City that brought together fans, influencers, and members of the media to witness the first two matches that streamed under the NBA on Prime banner.

The said doubleheader first featured the game between New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, which the former ultimately won with a 10-point lead, 105-95.

That game was later followed by the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves, with the team of Luca Dončić ending their second game lf the conference with a sizeable gap of 18 points, 128-110.

Aside from following the action live on screen, attendees themselves also had the chance to compete with one another through a series of games prepared by Prime Video, including a quiz segment and the AR (augmented reality) basketball board.

Meanwhile, Josie Law, Prime Video’s Head of Marketing and Engagement for Southeast Asia and MENA, shared in her speech the deep-rooted link between basketball as a sport and the Filipino people.

“It’s so great to be here in Manila with all of you, where basketball is not just a sport, but a vital part of everyday life. It’s truly a culture here in the Philippines!”

She also emphasized that “the passion for the game is everywhere,” noting that it is seen from street corners, barangay courts, and the dedication of NBA fans to stay up late to watch their favorite teams and players.

“This remarkable dedication is what makes the Philippines truly special and precisely why we are here today,” Law furthered.

The officer of the streaming giant also told that Prime Video “celebrates stories that unite people and the NBA emobodies this perfectly,” adding that the league is “more than competition,” but it is a community, connection, and shared love for the sport that fans love.

Moreover, the NBA on Prime coverage, she noted, is one that seeks to bring the league closer to its legions of fans in the country, as well as in the Southeast Asian region.

This, as Prime Video will offer exclusive content, behind-the-scene access, and special local initiatives.

The partnership between the NBA and the streaming giant include the exclusive coverage of 66 regular-season NBA games, seven matches of the Knockout Rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup, all games of the post-season SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament, and the first and second round games of the NBA Playoffs, conference finals, and the 2026 NBA Finals.
