The iconic musical group is back in town.
On Wednesday, August 27, musicians apl.de.ap, will.i.am, ans Taboo Nawasha, along with their touring member J.Rey Soul, banded together for the ‘Black Eyed Peas Live In Manila’ concert.
Held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, it was a night filled with performances of their hit songs that they produced in the past three decades.
The set list included their famous tracks like ‘Where Is The Love,’ ‘I Gotta Feeling,’ and ‘The Time (Dirty Bit),’ among others.
Also appearing as special guests of the evening were K-pop superstar and 2NE1 member Sandara Park—who took the stage with apl.de.ap for their collaboration single ‘2 Proud,’ which was released in 2024—and EZ Mil, who performed apl’s hit single ‘Bebot’.
Wednesday’s concert marked Black Eyed Peas’ first show in the Philippines in almost six years.
The last time that the band was in the country was when they were invited as one of the guests during the closing ceremony of the 30th South East Asian (SEA) Games in December 2019.
Formed in 1995, the group, aside from the above-mentioned, is also known for their songs like ‘My Humps,’ ‘Rock That Body,’ ‘Boom Boom Pow,’ ‘Meet Me Halfway,’ and ‘Pump It’.
In 2022, their ninth studio album, ‘Elevation,’ dropped and featured songs like ‘Don’t You Worry,’ and ‘Simply The Best’.
To date, the Black Eyed Peas has won a total of six Grammys, which include their Best Pop Vocal Album award for ‘The E.N.D.’, Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for ‘I Gotta Feeling,’ and Best Shortform Music Video for ‘Boom Boom Pow,’ which they all snagged in the 2010 edition.
