In an Instagram post, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala uploaded images of highlights from her recent duel against defending Wimbledon champ, Barbora Krejcikova.
“Realized something funny yesterday — when you’re living your dream, it doesn’t feel real,” the 20-year-old wrote.
She continued, “Yesterday, I was living my dream,” pertaining to her milestone achievement of taking part in the main draw of the competition.
“Couldn’t have asked for a better debut. That match was special in more ways than one — to be able to fulfill a childhood dream and be part of something bigger than myself, history for my country,” Alex proudly declared.
In a sportsman-like behavior, Eala also expressed her congratulatory message to Krejcikova, tagging her, “Congrats to [Barbora] on a great match — it was an honor to share the court with you.”
The battle between the two saw the Filipina woman take the first round with 3-6, but her Czech opponent later gained ground, scoring 6-2 and 6-1 in the last two rounds to win the game.
She also teased her next match in the Wimbledon, which would be in the women’s doubles with Eva Lys of Germany against Quinn Gleason and Ingrid Martins.
