Korean superstar Cha Eunwoo issues new statement on tax controversy

He has once again apologized over the matter.

He has once again apologized over the matter.

In a note uploaded through his Instagram story on Wednesday, April 8, Korean idol-actor Cha Eunwoo once again addressed his tax controversy, which was revealed to the public in January.

He opened his letter by saying, “This is Cha Eun-woo. I sincerely apologize for disappointing and confusing many people, including my fans, regarding the recent controversy over my tax payments.

I had no choice but to be cautious about expressing my position during the process of various administrative procedures, and I apologize once again for the delay in speaking up,” the 29-year-old continued.

The ASTRO member noted that while it is already late for him to talk about it, he would like to express his thoughts and position directly, even now.

I respect the procedures and results of the National Tax Service, and I have paid all relevant taxes to prevent further confusion. I will also faithfully participate in the remaining procedures,” he said.

Cha furthered, “As I have been active amidst the love and support of many people, I take this matter very seriously and deeply.”

He also took responsibility for matters that he might have failed to look into sufficiently. “I will not evade this for any reason by saying I ‘didn’t know’ or that it was ‘someone else’s judgment.’

Eunwoo then explained how the one-man corporation, which was set up to handle his activities alongside his parent agency Fantagio, was formed.

I established a corporation to ensure the stability of my activities during a time of various changes and confusion,” referencing the time when management shakeups occurred at his home label in 2018.

However, looking back now, there were aspects I failed to oversee sufficiently during that process, and I believe the responsibility lies with me, not with my family or the company.

The Korean superstar then said that through this incident, he felt the need to reflect on himself and said he is, above all, most heartbroken and apologetic that to AROHAs, whom, he said, he had “disappointed.”

To ensure that the same problem does not recur, he said he will review all aspects of his future activities with greater caution and stricter standards and expressed, “I will strive even harder to become a Cha Eun-woo who takes full responsibility for my choices and actions to the very end.”

He ended his latest statement by offering his deepest apologies.

At present, Eunwoo is on hiatus from his showbiz commitments as he is in the middle of fulfilling his mandatory military service, which will last until early 2027.
