TV5 launches late-morning edition of ‘Frontline Express’

The newscast still airs twice on weekdays.

The newscast still airs twice on weekdays.

On Monday, June 30, TV5 launched a newly-revamped morning schedule from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.

Included in the retooled daytime line-up is the second, or perhaps the first in terms of its broadcast time, edition of ‘Frontline Express.’

The said news show airs for 30 minutes from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, with ‘Frontline Pilipinas Weekend’ anchor Nikki De Guzman presenting the program.

Notably, De Guzman is also the one doing the chores for the Saturday edition of ‘Express,’ which was recently moved to 3:15 pm last June 28.

Similiar to its afternoon edition, still anchored by Ruth Cabal every weekdays 2:30 pm, the late-morning newscast offers a rundown of the latest and developing headlines of the day and interviews with persons familiar to the subject matter.

Through ‘FX,’ TV5 returned to the late-morning news competition, which it abandoned following the move of ‘Gud Morning Kapatid’ to 5:30 am in October 2024.

Previously, the network had the standalone version of ‘Frontline Sa Umaga’ that initially aired at 10:50 am, before transferring to 10:00 am in 2022 and aired there for a year until ‘GuMoKa’ launched in June 2023.

Meanwhile, one of the major casualties in its latest move was the TV5 Kids block, which has been reduced to merely 30 minutes, with the animated progam ‘Trolls: The Beat Goes On!’ becoming its only offering from 8:00 to 8:30 am.

After which, American telenovela ‘Betty Sa NY’ was also brought forward to 8:30 am, followed by ‘Cine Cinco Sa Umaga’ at 9:00 am.
