Philippine Airlines launches Manila-Da Nang route

A new option for travelers headed to the fast-rising tourism hub in Vietnam.

A new option for travelers headed to the fast-rising tourism hub in Vietnam.

On Tuesday, July 1, flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) successfully launched its new route connecting the country’s capital Manila and the Vietnamese town of Da Nang with a direct flight.

The inaugural PR 585 flight departed Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 11:10 am on the said day, which marks the start of the tri-weekly service operated on Airbus A321.

“As we welcome Da Nang to our global network, we affirm that PAL now serves three destinations in Vietnam, more than in any other ASEAN country, and that speaks of the solid bond of friendship that unites the Filipino and Vietnamese people. We look forward to flying travelers to the gateway of Central Vietnam,” Philippine Airlines President Richard Nuttall said.

With the addition of Da Nang, the flag carrier now serves Vietnam with a total of 24 weekly nonstop flights, connecting Manila and other destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Hanoi, as well as tri-weekly flights connecting Cebu-Mactan and Ho Chi Minh City.

For Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Lai Thai Binh, “This flight is more than a connection between two cities; it’s a bridge between our people, cultures, and shared dreams,” adding that it is also happening in the lead-up to the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between both countries in 2026.

“As Vietnam continues to rise as one of the most visited destinations by Filipino travelers, and as the Philippines also welcomes more visitors from Vietnam, this direct connection responds to the growing demand for accessible and enriching tourism experience,” Tourism Usec. Shahlimar Hofer Tamano for Tourism Regulation Coordination & Resource Generation and DOT chief of staff expressed.

PAL’s PR 585 will depart Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airpot every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 11:10 am, with the estimated landing time of 12:45 pm (local time) in Da Nang.

Meanwhile, the return PR 586 flight will leave Vietnam on the same days — Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday — at 1:35 pm (local time), with the arrival in Manila scheduled for 5:10 pm.
