Effective last Saturday, March 1, Cheryl Ching-Sy has been officially appointed as the officer-in-charge (OIC) of GMA Entertainment Group, the TV production unit of media company GMA Network, Inc.

According to the Kapuso network’s disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) last February 20, Ching-Sy will oversee numerous ongoing and upcoming programs of the station.

The list is led by ‘Mga Batang Riles’ on primetime, ‘Prinsesa Ng City Jail,’ ‘Mommy Dearest,’ and ‘Binibining Marikit’ on Afternoon Prime, as well as ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre’ that will air soon.

In addition to her role as the OIC, she will continue to function as the Vice President of Drama.

Under her term as VP of the drama unit, Ching-Sy has been key in the production of several popular shows like ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra,’ ‘Voltes V: Levacy,’ and ‘Pulang Araw.’

Her appointment comes after the retirement of Senior Vice President for Entertainment, Lilybeth Gomez-Rasonable, after a storied 27-year-long tenure with the network.
