During a recent press briefing, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Head Executive Assistant Manuel Jeffrey David shared some upcoming developments and updates regarding the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Aside from the recently-announced cessation of turboprop operations at the Manila airport later this year, David also disclosed the current status of the Manila Domestic Terminal, otherwise known as NAIA Terminal 4.

“We have not received any notice on the part of NNIC whether… they would reopen or when they will actually close it [Terminal 4],” he said.

NNIC refers to New NAIA Infrastructure Corp., a private-led consortium that assumed the management of the country’s main airport back in September 2024.

It was last November when the private firm temporarily closed down T4 for an overhaul, as well as transferred affected domestic flights of carriers Cebgo and AirSWIFT to nearby Terminal 2.

“Our goal is to make Terminal 4 more comfortable and efficient for travelers,” New NAIA previously said as it asked for understanding from the public for the temporary disruptions that will be caused by the upcoming construction works.

NNIC also said then that they were planning to re-open Terminal 4 by February 2025.

As of the moment, New NAIA has not yet issued another statement regarding the status of the domestic passenger terminal building, which is also the oldest within the NAIA complex.
