Expect more solo music from the K-pop star.
In a video shared by her own label OddAtelier, Jennie Kim of the K-pop girl group Blackpink announced her plans to release a new solo album next year.
According to her, the said album is going to “sound very different,” and that the “next single is going to sound very different from ‘Mantra.’”
‘Mantra’ is the song that she dropped last October, her first under American music label Columbia Records.
Additionally, Jennie teased that there will also be collaborations with other artists, which she has not named yet as of the moment.
Jennie debuted in 2016 as part of the third-generation K-pop group Blackpink, along with fellow members Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa.
They became well-known in their home country and abroad, thanks to their successive hit songs ‘Whistle,’ ‘Boombayah,’ ‘Playing with Fire,’ ‘As If It’s Your Last,’ ‘Ddu-du Ddu-du,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘Lovesick Girls,’ ‘Pink Venom,’ and ‘Shut Down,’ among many others.
Late December 2023, she formally launched her own agency OddAtelier — the new company that would oversee her solo career.
At present, all four members have individually established their own labels for their solo projects.
Although, the team’s original label, YG Entertainment, will remain as the parent studio for their group activities moving forward and in fact, will be promoting as a four-piece group anew in 2025.
