The Kapamilya noontime program will remain part of the Kapuso network’s grid.
In a message to the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), GMA’s corporate communications team disclosed that the network has reached a deal with ABS-CBN concerning variety program ‘It’s Showtime’.
The message read: “‘It’s Showtime’ will continue to air in GMA in 2025! Maligayang Pasko, madlang Kapuso at Kapamilya!”
For their part, ABS-CBN wrote that the company and the ‘It’s Showtime’ family “are most grateful to GMA for their continued trust and support.”
“We will continue to inspire and bring happiness to our audience,” the Kapamilya network added.
This information ends months-long speculations regarding the fate of the show hosted by Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Karylle, among others.
In various reports in the past, ‘Showtime’ was alleged to be ending its GMA run in December 2024, just 8 months after first airing on the main Kapuso channel in April 2024.
More allegations sprung up later on, such as unpaid fees and the transfer of pre-noontime show ‘TikToclock’ to the prime 12 high noon slot, both of which were later denied by GMA executive Atty. Annette Gozon.
Initially, ‘It’s Showtime’ entered the Kapuso turf by airing simultaneously over GMA’s secondary channel, GTV, beginning July 1, 2023. This was after the program formally ended its blocktime agreement with rival network TV5 the day before.
Back then, the set-up was GMA Network having two noontime shows, with ‘Showtime’ on GTV, while TAPE, Inc.’s final iteration of ‘Eat Bulaga,’ which was later renamed ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya,’ broadcasting over the flagship channel.
After the cancelation of the TAPE-produced program in March 2024, GMA and ABS-CBN entered into a new agreement that allowed ‘It’s Showtime’ to take over the prime noontime slot of channel 7 — becoming the first-ever Kapamilya show to do so in the history of both networks.
Apart from GMA-7 and GTV, ‘Showtime’ is also simulcast on free-to-air stations A2Z and ALLTV, pay television Kapamilya Channel, and online via Kapamilya Online Live and iWantTFC.
Abroad, it is also available on The Filipino Channel (TFC) and GMA Pinoy TV.
