Annette Gozon discusses ‘It’s Showtime’ deal with GMA, GTV

The Kapamilya noontime show will likely continue to be seen on both Kapuso channels.

The Kapamilya noontime show will likely continue to be seen on both Kapuso channels.

On Monday, December 16, GMA’s Senior Vice President for Talent Management, Programming, Worldwide, and Support Groups Atty. Annette Gozon made another statement regarding ‘It’s Showtime.’

This, as the rumors continue to bug the program, most especially regarding the status of its broadcast deal with GMA Network and its secondary channel GTV.

The contract of the ABS-CBN Studios-produced show is set to expire by the end of December 2024.

Gozon shared that the negotiations is already in the process of being done, as they are now just waiting for a certain “data.”

“May hinihintay lang kaming data, kaya natagalan kaming bumalik sa kanila. Siguro mga 95% okay na. Wala naman problema kasi, [kung hindi] konting pag-uusap lang,” she said.

The lady executive also dispelled speculations like the alleged debt of the producers and the transfer of pre-noontime variety show ‘TikToclock’ to the 12:00 noon slot.

Atty. Gozon shared that it is the network’s “priority” to renew ‘It’s Showtime,’ noting that the noontime variety show led by Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, and Karylle continues to deliver high viewership ratings.

“Sa ratings, wala kaming problema, kasi ang taas taas ng ratings ng Showtime,” the Kapuso leader disclosed.

Additionally, she cleared the air regarding the speculated financial issues, saying, “Wala silang utang [sa GMA Network].”

With that, she remains optimistic that the negotiations will be ending soon, with both parties signing a contract in the next few days.

Atty. Gozon’s statements come nearly a month after she confirmed that ABS-CBN and GMA are still in the process of negotiating the program’s contract with the stations.

Meanwhile, in the omnibus plug of ABS-CBN’s offerings for 2025 that aired during the ‘Shine Kapamilya’ 2024 Christmas special, the network’s longest-running noontime variety program ‘It’s Showtime’ was included.

During its segment, the show teased its upcoming plans for the New Year, particularly on the segments ‘And The Breadwinner Is’ and ‘Tawag Ng Tanghalan: The School Showdown.’

There, the logos for the ABS-CBN platforms Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live appeared alongside those of GMA and GTV.

‘It’s Showtime’ began airing simultaneously over GMA’s secondary channel, GTV, on July 1, 2023 after the program formally ended its blocktime agreement with rival network TV5 the day before.

Initially, GMA Network had two noontime shows, with ‘Showtime’ on GTV and TAPE, Inc.’s final iteration of ‘Eat Bulaga,’ which was later renamed ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya,’ broadcasting over the flagship channel.

After the cancelation of ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ in March 2024, GMA and ABS-CBN entered into a new agreement that allowed ‘It’s Showtime’ to take over the prime noontime slot of channel 7 — becoming the first-ever Kapamilya show to do so in the history of both networks.

Apart from GMA-7 and GTV, ‘Showtime’ is also simulcast on free-to-air stations A2Z and ALLTV, pay television Kapamilya Channel, and online via Kapamilya Online Live and iWantTFC.

Abroad, it is also available on The Filipino Channel (TFC) and GMA Pinoy TV.
