Cathay Pacific introduces new Aria Suite business class, retrofits 777-300ER

On October 18, 2024, Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER fleet made its debut on the Hong Kong-Beijing route, before it makes its progressive deployment on other regional and long-haul routes.

In the overhauled 777-300 ER cabin, the airline has also introduced its all-new Business class named the Aria Suite, together with the new Premium Economy and a refreshed Economy class.

The Aria Suite, which has 45 flat-bed seats, boasts a suite doors and dividers for enhanced privacy, complete with aisle-side armrest, seat control panels, new meal table design, and on-board connectivity equipped with wireless charging.

Moving down to the premium economy section, it has 48 seats that offers comfort and privacy, 4K in-flight entertainment (IFE) screens, and two dedicated lavatories.

As for the refreshed economy cabin, with a total of 268 seats, features a revamped design from the A350 fleet, updated dress covers, and a additional overhead bin space.

Lavinia Lau, Cathay Group Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, said that the rolled out improvements in the 777-300ER will be followed by “a new world-leading First class experience onboard our 777-9s, and a brand-new flat-bed Business class product on our Airbus A330s” over a period of three years.

“Through our investments in cutting-edge aircraft, innovative technology and groundbreaking facilities, we are dedicated to moving beyond expectations – in the air, on the ground and in every experience we create,” Lau added.

The new Boeing 777-300ER, as well as the upcoming upgrades in other planes in the Cathay Pacific fleet, is part of the over HK$100 billion investment of the group into their fleet, cabin products, lounges, and sustainability goals in the next seven years.

On these improvements, Lau said that it reflects the group’s “confidence in Hong Kong’s long-term growth and its position as a key player in global aviation.”

“At Cathay, we believe in moving people forward in life. This purpose goes beyond simply flying customers to their destinations; we are deeply woven into Hong Kong’s identity as a global aviation hub,” Lau also stated.
