SEVENTEEN member Jeonghan had formally enlisted in South Korea’s mandatory 20-month-long military service program on Thursday, September 26.

The Korean pop star will be undergoing the three-week basic military training before serving as a social worker for the remainder of his service term.

Fulfilling a request from a previous announcement, there had been no send-off programs for Jeonghan as fans were advised by SEVENTEEN’s label Pledis Entertainment to “refrain” from doing so.

Through fan interaction platform Weverse, Jeonghan shared that he “won’t lose the thankful heart… for the CARATs who are sending me love.”

He also promised to cheer alongside fans during the promotional activities of SEVENTEEN, which is set to return with their new extended play ‘Right Here.’

It was on Monday, August 12, South Korean management company and music label Pledis Entertainment shared some updates regarding Seventeen members Jeonghan, alongside Jun.

The announcement, which was shared on the Weverse community platform, divulged that Jeonghan will be entering the mandatory miliary service program of South Korea in the latter half of this year.

Meanwhile, Jun will be flying back to his home country, China, to pursue some acting projects there.

This meant that both Jeonghan and Jun will not be able to join the other 11 members of the group in their upcoming world tour series ‘Seventeen Right Here’ and the promotional activities for the band’s 12th mini-album, which will both be released and kicker-off in October 2024.

SEVENTEEN debuted in 2015 and went on to release multiple hit tracks like ‘Pretty U,’ ‘Aju Nice,’ ‘Don’t Wanna Cry,’ ‘Clap,’ ‘Oh My,’ ‘Home,’ ‘Hit,’ ‘Fear,’ ‘Left and Right,’ ‘Home; Run,’ ‘Ready To Love,’ ‘Hot,’ and ‘Super,’ among others.
