On Thursday, September 26, Korean music agency SM Entertainment announced the upcoming plans for NCT member Jaehyun.

According to the company, Jaehyun, 27, will formally enlist in South Korea’s compulsory military service program for males for 30 years old and below.

The K-pop star is scheduled to start his service on Monday, November 4, 2024, by undergoing the three-week basic military exercise.

After which, he will be joining as a member of active duty soldier squad, where he will serve for less than two years.

SM Entertainment also advised NCTzens that there will be no official send-off program that will be held on the day Jaehyun starts his military service.

“We ask for your unwavering support and love until the day Jaehyun completes his military service and returns in good health,” the company said.

With this announcement, Jaehyun becomes the second NCT member to be conscripted, following band leader Taeyong, who began his service last April.

Jaehyun made his debut as one of the original members of NCT in 2016 and then became part of the line-up for the group’s fixed sub-unit NCT 127.

127 is known for their songs like ‘Cherry Bomb,’ ‘Touch,’ ‘Kick It,’ ‘Sticker,’ and ‘Favorite (Vampire),’ among others. The sub-unit also recently released their sixrh album ‘Walk’ in July.

In 2023, Jaehyun joined Doyoung and Jungwoo to form the sub-unit NCT DoJaeJung, which is known for their single ‘Perfume.’

In July, he formally debuted as a soloist upon the release of his first solo album titled ‘J,’ consisting of songs like ‘Smoke,’ ‘Roses,’ and ‘Dandelion.’

Aside from doing music, Jaehyun has also been active as an actor, making his debut in the drama scene in 2022 via the series ‘Dear M.’
