It marked the new era in the history of Philippines’ longest-running noontime variety show.
On July 7, 2023, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, jointly announced their newfound partnership with TV5 for a new noontime program, which at that time had no concrete title.
Their transfer to the Kapatid network was a direct result of their controversial departure from Television and Production Exponents (TAPE), Inc. on May 31, 2023, a week prior to the announcement of their move to channel 5.
As for the hosts, most of them had history of working with TV5.
With the exception of Tito, the event also marked the return to the Kapatid network of Vic and Joey, as well as Ryan Agoncillo, who were all once considered the network’s pillars during its earlier days in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
Sotto hosted ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,’ de Leon was the master prankster in ‘Wow Mali,’ and Agoncillo was the main man in ‘Talentadong Pinoy.’
Maine Mendoza had her travel show in the network, ‘#MaineGoals,’ along with Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, all had their own programs on the network during the period of 2020 to 2021.
Allan K also served as a judge in the revival of Sing Galing from 2021 to 2022, and even hosted the original 1998 version of the show.
Ryzza Mae, meanwhile, also first appeared on TV via the former Kapatid variety game show ‘Wil Time Bigtime.’
Despite the transfer of the trio, TAPE, Inc., continued producing their own noontime show titled ‘Eat Bulaga’ on Monday, June 5, with live episodes and new hosts, led by Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya, and Buboy Villar.
Their TV5 move also resulted to the end of the network simulcast of ABS-CBN noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ on June 30, 2023.
The day after that, on July 1, ‘E.A.T.’ with the “legit Dabarkads” began airing on TV5. It would take six months for TVJ to finally use the title ‘Eat Bulaga’ for their noontime show, following a Marikina court decision in January 2024.
