The Kapatid mid-morning block will be tweaked next week.
On Monday, May 6, TV5 will be reintroducing the standalone version of its morning news segment ‘Frontline Sa Umaga,’ just in time for its upcoming third anniversary on Friday, May 10.
Onboard to anchor the returning newscast is the new trio composed of ‘FSU’ anchor Jes delos Santos and two former CNN Philippines anchors Ruth Cabal and Andrei Felix.
The new ‘Frontline Sa Umaga’ will air weekdays from 8:30 am to 9:00 am.
Originally launched in May 2021, ‘Frontline Sa Umaga’ was TV5’s re-entry to the morning news genre. It was a full-length newscast that initially ran for 30 minutes before later expanding to a one-hour program.
Its final anchors during its original incarnation were Jes delos Santos and Gretchen Ho, who both joined the mid-morning show ‘Gud Morning Kapatid’ that was launched in June 2023.
Since then, ‘FSU’ continued to be seen on-air as a segment of ‘GMK.’
Speaking of which, ‘GuMoKa’ will be moved to an earlier time slot of 9:00 am, but will still be presented the current five-person team of Dimples Romana, Chiqui Roa, Justin Quirino, Jes delos Santos, and Maoui David.
To accommodate these changes, the TV5 simulcast of the first hour of ‘Ted Failon and DJ Chacha sa Radyo5,’ which ran from 6:00 am to 7:00 am, had been officially axed on Friday, May 3.
Despite that, the radio program will continue to be heard on Radyo5 True FM and its video feed simulcast on free-to-air channel RPTV, and on One PH and True FM TV on Cignal TV.
The TV5 Kids weekday block will then begin airing from an earlier time of 6:00 am until 8:30 am starting Monday, May 6.
Other changes in TV5’s programming grid have yet to be confirmed.
