The hit-making songwriter has since responded to the claim.
In a Facebook post, a musician named Xavier Tubaniosa shared a clip featuring a side-by-side comparison of his song titled ‘Two Left Feet’ and P-pop girl group BINI’s newly-released single ‘Ang Huling Chacha.’
“A friend recently told me that BINI_ph ‘s song, ‘Ang Huling Chacha’ released three weeks ago reminded them of my song ‘Two Left Feet’, released 10 months ago because of the hook and upon listening to it, I noticed the similarity as well,” Tubaniosa said in his caption.
He added: “BINI’s song seems to repeatedly use the melody of my song’s hook throughout its hook in the same key. Their song also uses dance and steps (feet) as metaphors in its lyrics.”
He, however, did not name any other party or personality and said: “I guess I just wanna put this out there and know what you guys think. Thank you!”
The post then reached the camp of Nica del Rosario, who is the songwriter and co-composer of ‘Ang Huling Chacha.’
In a personal comment that she left on the post, del Rosario wrote: “Apologies for this looks like, but wanted to let you know that I wrote the lyrics and melody of this song a little over a year ago while we were pitching songs for BINI and the similarities are purely coincidental.”
“I don’t understand how it could’ve happened either [but] thank you so much and more power to your music!”, she ended her response.
Elaborating on X, formerly Twitter, del Rosario shares that she has “never heard of this man or this song, have never had the need to plagarize, the similarities, though unusually extreme, are purely coincidental.”
“Anyway, I don’t appreciate being accused IN PUBLIC over something I didn’t do. I really don’t like involving myself in social media issues/conflict pero inaatake ang karera (eyyy) at integridad ko,” she capped her thread on the matter.
After which, Tubaniosa clarified his side: “I deleted my prior comment and I guess if people will take offense to me promoting my own music, I won’t anymore. I apologize if it was in bad taste.”
“I’m trying to form my own conclusions and you’re free to form your own as well. Just please don’t send any ill intended messages towards any of the parties involved,” the independent musician told his followers.
