The controversial couple have parted ways.
In a statement released to Korean media, C-Jes Studio, the management company handling ‘Reply 1988’ star Ryu Jun Yeol, said that the actor has broken up with actress Han So Hee.
Responding to a query about the couple’s status, C-Jes said that “it is true that Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee have broken up.”
The news was later affirmed by So Hee’s label 9ato Entertainment, which added that the reason for the split was primarily for them to focus on their individual careers.
9ato also apologized “for failing to look after” Han So Hee, which gave “herself and the public a difficult time due to her personal emotions.”
Last March 16, the actress unilaterally confirmed through her personal Instagram page that she and Ryu had been dating, but denied that she was a third party to Ryu’s previous relationship with Girl’s Day member Hyeri, who was also his co-star in ‘Reply 1988.’
The confirmation came a day after the relationship was first publicly denied by their companies, as well as the cryptic social media post made by Ryu’s former girlfriend.
Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri announced the end of their six-year-long relationship in November 2023.
Hyeri later issued an apology for the post, but shared that they have spoken up after the break-up news regarding their relationship, but have never met again after that.
On Friday, Han So Hee took to Instagram again to share a lengthy post, where she explained some details.
According to her account, Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri separated back in September 2023 or two months before it was revealed to the public.
Han also said that she met Ryu in an exhibit back in November 2023, where they began to develop their relationship.
In the same post, she also apologized to Hyeri, and expressed her frustration to “a party that remains silent” on the issue — where she likely pertains to Ryu, who had never publicly addressed the matter since it went out weeks ago.
The actress, however, deleted the said post a few minutes after posting it.
Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri co-starred in the top-rated 2015 drama series ‘Reply 1988,’ where they starred in the roles of Kin Jung Hwan and Sung Deok Soon, respectively.
Meanwhile, Han So Hee gained a significant breakthrough with her portrayal of Yeo Da Kyung in the highest-rated cable drama series in South Korea of all-time, ‘The World of the Married,’ which aired back in 2020.
She was recently seen in ‘Gyeongseong Creature,’ which is slated to air its second season later this year.
