ZOE TV is returning to the limelight soon.
On October 2, SKY posted an advisory on their official website indicating some changes to the cabler’s lineup of channels.
Firstly, ABS-CBN’s teleshopping platform O Shopping will move from its current place at channel 11 to channel 3 (Metro) and channel 21 (provincial) starting October 5. This is rather a slow burn for the channel as it will cease official operations on November 1, 2020. Ending a 7-year run that started on October 14, 2013.
The sliding of O Shopping to other slots is a result of a comeback that many have been anticipating for the past few months. The JIL-owned ZOE TV on VHF channel 11 is being reactivated and will be housed on SKY’s channel 11. But this comeback is said to be something more than what meets the eye.
In the October 2 episode of “It’s Showtime”, Vice Ganda addressed the ‘madlang pipol’ with words like “abang-abang” and “kita-kits”. This was later followed by a piano score of ABS-CBN’s famous chimes. Also in the same episode, during a segment, Vice teased more and cracked a joke connected to what they said earlier; “1+1=2” and “1+1=11”. Avid Kapamilyas online later connected the pieces and speculated that this might refer to ABS-CBN (formerly channel 2) inking a blocktime deal with ZOE (channel 11).
Months ago, it was even reported by Bilyonaryo that ZOE has given the greenlight for top-rating shows like “TV Patrol”, and “Ang Probinsyano” to be aired on the channel. Programs like “It’s Showtime” and “ASAP Natin ‘To” were also added to the list of programs rumored to have been allowed to air on 11.
Several publications have also picked up the story. However, no official words from both ABS-CBN and ZOE were released as of press time.
Trendrod remains open to both parties and will publish a follow-up article as soon as new development arises.
