He has spoken up about the matter that has caused uproar among members of the general public.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Kapamilya actor Donny Pangilinan has spoken up regarding the recent controversy that implicated his name.
Specifically when Juby Sabino of the novelty pop girl group Baby Dolls mentioned him on the weekly talk show Gandang Gabi Vice last October 18.
During a specific segment of their conversation, they were asked to dedicate a line fron their viral hit single, Oh La La Baby—specifically, the lyrics “Para lang sa’yo ang giling-giling ko.”
For member Juby, she chose to dedicate it to Donny, whom she revealed is actually not her biggest crush until one dream changed it all.
“Meme, may back story kasi ako sa kanya. Hindi ko kasi talaga siya crush na crush, tapos on a random night napanaginipan ko siya. Kine-keme niya raw ako,” she said.
The moment has since drawn the Baby Dolls member flak online, with netizens calling her out for what they described as “oversharing.”
In response to this, Donny said: “I understand where some people are coming from. It’s nice that they (Baby Dolls) are able to spark these types of conversations. I think these are very nice conversations to have.”
For him, he felt that the discussion was more on whether if certain things can be shared on certain platforms.
“I personally don’t think that she (Juby) meant anything bad with it (or) to hurt someone. Baka lang naging masyadong komportable siya. I know that this is their first interview and it’s a learning experience for everyone,” he added.
Asked about whether he was offended, Donny replied: “‘Di naman offended, pero mas (awkwardness) kasi alam ko na makikita ko sila… we’re from the same network. Mas ‘yun siguro.”
At present, Juby Sabino, the Baby Dolls, and Gandang Gabi Vice have not yet made any statements or comments regarding the matter.
