An encouraging update for fans, EYEKONS, who are eagerly waiting for her return.
On Thursday, October 8, Hybe X Geffen Records announced an important update regarding the future activities of its girl group KATSEYE, specifically of member Sophia Laforteza.
The 23-year-old Filipina singer-performer has been on hiatus since last August to focus on her mental health and overall well-being.
But after more than two months, the label said: “We are happy to share that Sophia will resume group activities with KATSEYE beginning the first week of January 2027.”
According to them, Sophia has been receiving their full support and resources amid her ongoing recovery.
“While Sophia will not be participating in THE WILDWORLD TOUR in North America, or promotional activities for the remainder of this year, we look forward to welcoming her back as KATSEYE continues this next chapter together in 2027,” the company added.
They also thanked fans for their continued love, support, and understanding.
“Thank you for standing by her, and we look forward to celebrating her return with you in the new year,” it concluded its statement.
Sophia’s hiatus announcement came a week before the official release of the group’s newest extended play entitled Wild last August 14, which carried their songs like Hooti Frooti, as well as the pre-release singles such as Pinky Up and Animal.
Apart from Sophia, another member who is currently on hiatus is Manon Bannerman, who has sit out of the group’s activities since February.
