As the company scales its regional strategy through ten partnerships and engagements spanning industry, professional bodies and education.
Nemetschek APAC Pte. Ltd., which is part of the global construction AI leader and software provider Nemetschek Group, is expanding its presence across the Philippines and Vietnam.
These new partnerships link live-project adoption, professional development and workforce capability and are part of the firm’s regional push that seeks to address a persistent challenge in construction: project information.
Cutrently, it is frequently created and managed in disconnected systems across disciplines and stages of the building lifecycle, which causes duplicated work, inconsistent information and data being lost as projects move from design into construction and operations.
The Nemetschek Group is supporting more connected and interoperable workflows on projects now, while also working with professional and educational institutions to strengthen the digital capabilities the industry will need over the longer term.
Jonathan Ng, Managing Director for Southeast Asia of the Nemetschek Group said: “Digital transformation in the built environment is ultimately about how information moves between disciplines, between technologies and across the lifecycle of a building.”
“Firms need interoperable workflows that work on real projects, while professionals entering the industry need to understand how digital information is structured, exchanged and used,” he emphasized.
He also bared their strategy the two Southeast Asian countries, with Nemetschek working with the industry to connect more of the project lifecycle, while engaging the education sector around the capabilities future professionals will need in Vietnam.
“They are different interventions, but they address the same underlying shift towards a more connected built environment,” he stressed.
In the Philippines, partnerships span both live project delivery and wider capability-building within the architectural profession.
Through its collaboration with Aidea, Inc., the software provider will support their work on a major healthcare project involving St. Luke’s Medical Center. It is on top of the Philippine-based firm’s utilizations of different areas solutions across different workflows for the past 20 years.
“Over the years, we have seen that digital transformation goes far beyond architects using BIM. We want our design process to be highly collaborative, with different disciplines able to work together more seamlessly, while also extending our involvement beyond design into the wider lifecycle of the building,” said Ar. Abelardo Tolentino Jr., President of AIDEA.
Nemetschek Group is also broadening its engagement with the Philippines’ architectural community through collaborations with the Philippine Institute of Architects, the United Architects of the Philippines – Makati CBD Chapter, and the University of Mindanao.
The partnership will cover areas such as BIM and openBIM adoption, professional development, knowledge exchange and architectural education.
Over to Vietnam, Nemetschek Group’s engagement with the education sector focuses on how digital delivery is changing the capabilities expected of future built environment professionals.
As projects become more model-based and data-driven, architects and engineers entering the workforce will now also need to understand how information is structured, exchanged and validated across disciplines, and how that data can continue to create value from design and construction through to building operations.
Thus, it engaged institutions such as Vietnamese-German University, Van Lang University, Lac Hong University, Ho Chi Minh City College of Architecture and Construction, Hanoi Architectural University and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
Through three-year collaboration with Hanoi Architectural University (HAU), educational access to selected Nemetschek Group solutions will be provided, including Archicad, ALLPLAN, Solibri, Vectorworks and Bluebeam.
They will also explore curriculum development, student internships, industry attachments for lecturers, and jointly organised forums, seminars and workshops
“The next generation of built environment professionals will need more than proficiency in individual software tools,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Anh, Rector, Hanoi Architectural University. “They will need to understand how digital information is created, exchanged and used across disciplines and throughout a project’s lifecycle.”
Recently, the Nemetschek Group’s also entered into partnerships with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) in Singapore around AI, BIM and digital delivery capabilities.
