At the recent Manila International Book Fair 2026 in Pasay City, seasoned entertainment journalist and celebrity manager Noel Ferrer launched his book entitled Level Up: Narrating Stardom, Substance, and Service.
In a brief question-and-answer segment at the launch event, Ferrer was asked what the purpose of his voice, especially as someone who has more than 35 years of experience in the industry.
“Una, hindi ako kasi pa-viral… Hindi man kasing-lakas ‘yung boses, mas consistent at mas may prinsipyo,” he said. “Sa gitna ng lahat ng ingay, ang boses natin dapat consistent, nakabatay sa prinsipyo at dapat nakikinabang tayo at ang nakararami.”
On why he gravitated toward strong women, whom he called as his mentors and subjects in the book.
Some of those he wrote about the likes of the late Superstar Nora Aunor, the Megastar Sharon Cuneta, news personalities Mel Tiangco and Korina Sanchez-Roxas, OPM icons Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Zsazsa Padilla, and actress Iza Calzado.
“Because they nurtured me,” he shared. “In a macho industry, maganda rin na may mga kababaihan na nag-excel at nagsabi ng sa kanilang nasasaloob.”
Ferrer also said that they have the charm, which they used to their advantage.
Reflecting on the current season of his life, he said that he is no longer in the “summer” and is already in the “harvest” season.
“I just plant seeds that I know I’ll harvest eventually. At sa tingin ko, nandito na tayo sa puntong nag te-train ng mga taong papalit sa atin,” he added.
The seasoned showbiz personality also said he does not chase stories anymore. “Nandoon na tayo sa pagiging panatag at payapa na may susunod sa atin pagkatapos,” he added.
