Standing out among productions and talents from the across the region.
On Thursday, August 27, the ContentAsia Awards 2026 took place in Bangkok, Thailand, with the night dedicated to recognizing the best programs, movies, and artists from around the Asia-Pacific region.
For the Philippines, major networks ABS-CBN and GMA raised the flag and cumulatively delivered five wins.
Foremost, Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban—who starred in the ABS-CBN Studios and Prime Video’s mystery-thriller limited series The Silent Noise as the main character Jackie Carpio—bagged a Bronze Award for Best Female Lead in a TV Programme/Series Made in Asia.
The said series, which streamed last March, follows a family whose lives are disrupted by the mysterious death of their deaf son’s teacher, which leads to the unraveling of secrets and buried truths that test their trust in one another.
The Silent Noise also stars Zanjoe Marudo, KD Omalin, Zaijian Jaranilla, Mutya Orquia, and Mylene Dizon and is under the direction of Onat Diaz.
Meanwhile, Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre’s Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 entry Call Me Mother also bagged the Silver for Best Feature Film or Telemovie Made in Asia category.
The film, which explores motherhood, sacrifice, and the different ways a family can be formed, sees Twinkle (Vice), a loving queer foster mother who hopes to legally adopt his son Angelo (Lucas Andalio), and Mara (Nadine), Angelo’s biological mother who returns to his life. It is directed by Jun Robles Lana.
Another silver was also earned by ABS-CBN for Best TV Format Adaptation (Scripted) in Asia for the Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean series It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, which was top-billed by Anne Curtis, Joshua Garcia, and Carlo Aquino.
The series follows the “Healing Trio” comprising the successful but emotionally troubled children’s book author Mia (Anne), psychiatric ward caregiver Patpat (Joshua), and his older brother Matmat (Carlo), who is on the autism spectrum.
Over at GMA Network, productions by its Public Affairs divisions were able to bring home two awards.
First, the network received a gold for its documentary Broken Roads, Broken Promises in the Best Factual Entertainment Programme Made in Asia for a Single Asia Market category.
The special, which aired in 2025, was hosted by the Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, who went to different parts of the country to uncover the real-world implications of stalled civic construction projects such as those concerning flood control and education.
Meanwhile, the network also won bronze for the Corruption Series: A Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho Special Report of seasoned journalist Jessica Soho, which competed under the Best Current Affairs Programme Made in Asia for a Single Market in Asia category.
In the recurring segment of the newsmagazine show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, the veteran news personality tackles the corruption scandal that gripped the nation—the Flood Control Scandal—and does a deep dive into the projects, personalities, and the developments in the said issue.
In 2026, more than 500 entries were submitted for consideration at the ContentAsia Awards, while 180 programs were nominated in 35 categories.
