This will bring a major upgrade to the airport in one of the most-visited destinations in the Visayas.
Recently, Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC) and Petron Corporation signed an agreement for the design, construction, and operation of a new Jet A-1 Fuel Farm at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA).
Under the terms of the Request for Proposals (RFP), Petron will hold the exclusive rights to design, build, operate, and maintain the on-airport fuel depot in BPIA that has been designed to address its growing operational demands — which currently require 102 KL of fuel daily (43 KL for international operations and 59 KL for domestic flights).
The said project will include the construction of a robust 3 x 477 KL storage capacity that is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2027.
The permanent on-site fuel farm will also ensure fuel supply reliability by establishing a minimum 5-day storage capacity and enhancing overall operational efficiency, noted the airport operator.
It will be backed by a projected capital expenditure (CAPEX) of PHP 340 million and must adhere to global quality and safety, as all commissioning activities will be executed in strict accordance with the latest Joint Inspection Group (JIG) standards.

“By partnering with an industry leader like Petron, we are securing a resilient, world-class fuel infrastructure that will ensure operational efficiency, and safely accommodate the growing aviation demands of the Bohol,” he added.
To future-proof the airport operations and ensure and protect airline partners, the partnership agreement will mandate that all applicable facility rates be regulated by ABAC.
“This ensures an open-access environment and prevents supplier discrimination in the event that additional fuel suppliers enter the BPIA market in the future,” the operator also stated.
There will also be a dedicated local management team in Tagbilaran has been appointed to oversee the upcoming execution and construction phases.
Petron was chosen as the top-ranked partner for this essential aviation infrastructure development, according to ABAC, after a comprehensive evaluation.
Petron, the country’s largest oil company, currently has superior into-plane services, proven supply capability, and the country’s remaining refinery. All of these, the oeprators said, “guarantees a highly seamless transition.”.
Petron is also in charge at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), another Aboitiz-operatedt airport. The oil company currently owns and operates the existing fuel farm at the said airport.

Bohol-Panglao International Airport is the main airport serving the island province of Bohol and is strategically located on Panglao Island, a premier tourist destination.
It commenced operations in November 2018, took over all domestic and international flights from the former Tagbilaran Airport and facilitates seamless travel with growing network connecting Bohol with key destinations such as Manila, Clark, Davao, and Cebu, and even South Korea.
It holds the distinction of being the Philippines’ first “eco-airport,” designed with sustainable and energy-efficient technologies, including extensive use of natural lighting and ventilation.
