The members of the permanent sub-unit will remain part of the same agency.
On Wednesday, July 15, Korean music label SM Entertainment made an announcement regarding the status of its cintract renewal with members of NCT 127, the sub-unit of the mega boy band NCT.
After thanking fans of the now seven-member team for their love and support, the company shared, “We are delighted to announce that JOHNNY, TAEYONG, YUTA, DOYOUNG, JAEHYUN, JUNGWOO, and HAECHAN have renewed their exclusive contracts with SM Entertainment.“
The label noted that the renewal “reflects the unwavering teamwork and strong bond the members have built over the years,” as well as the members’ mutual trust with one another and the company.
Furthermore, it told, “We are truly grateful to the members for their dedication over the past ten years, and to the fans whose steadfast support has made this journey possible,” as they acknowledged the band’s position as one the leading K-pop acts.
“SM Entertainment will continue to fully support NCT 127’s activities and remain a trusted partner as the group embarks on its next chapter,” it continued. “We sincerely ask for your continued love and support for NCT 127. Thank you.”
NCT 127 was originally introduced in July 2016 as a permanent sub-unit and released over the years songs like Cherry Bomb, Regular, Kick It, Sticker, Favorite, and 2 Baddies, among others.
Previously, Mark and Winwin, who both recently departed SM Entertainment and the band, were also part of this unit.
Currently, the group promotes as a five-member line-up in the interim, as Doyoung and Jungwoo are still fulfilling their mandatory military service.
