On Saturday, July 4 (Manila time), news broke that American pop superstar Taylor Swift and National Football League (NFL) star player Travis Kelce have already tied the knot.
Lavender-colored banners filled electronic billboards around the city, especially in the vicinity and walls of the famed Madison Square Garden, where the ceremony was reported to have taken place.
The garden even shared it in a social media post, where it said that it is a “love story,” referencing the singer-songwriter’s 2008 song.
Meanwhile, according to a report by People, it disclosed some details of the wedding, which happened behind closed doors and was attended by people close to the newlyweds and a whole bash of important personalities in showbusiness.
Citing a representative from Taylor’s team, it was said that the couple opted to not have bridesmaids or groomsmen and instead opted to have their families do the part.
Austin Swift, the elder brother of the pop superstar, served as the Man of Honor, while Travis’ brother Jason Kelce, who is a former American football player himself, was the Best Man.
“The ceremony joined both families together and was officiated by friend Adam Sandler,” the same representative noted.
It was alsp revaled to People that the attire wore by the two were designed by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections, “in close collaboration with the Bride and Groom.”
Notably it is also the designer’s first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity.
As for their shoes, those were custom-made by the renowned Christian Louboutin, with the bride wearing a Cartier jewelry.
HOW IT BEGAN
The couple is reported to have begun their romance sometime in 2023, which was only chronicled in the media after Taylor attended in September of that year a Kansas City Chiefs game, Travis’ team in the National Football League (NFL), to express her support.
Prior to that, Kelce shared in an episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast, which he hosts alongside his brother Jason, in July 2023 that he had attempted to give Swift a “friendship bracelet,” specifically one that has his number on it, during a stop of ‘The Eras Tour’ at the Arrowhead Stadium.
However, the athlete was unsuccessful in giving the accessory to the singer-songwriter, a disappointment he aired on the the show, and jokingly expressed on the show.
But it seems that that worked out for him, as in between the time that the podcast was released and her first appearance at the games, they had already grown close to each other.
Jumping forward, Taylor was then spotted a couple more times watching Travis’ matches, while the latter reciprocated the act by attending her concerts, including stops abroad like in Buenos Aires, Argentina in November 2023.
That same month, the NFL star confirmed in an interview with WSJ Magazine that they are in a relationship, which was followed by the global popstar’s disclosure of how they became a thing in a separate interview in December 2023.
Since then, they have been spotted in more public occasions, such as the Super Bowl LVIII and Super Bowl LIX, and other international shows of ‘The Eras Tour’.
The couple appeared together in the ‘New Heights’ podcast, where Taylor officially announced her 12th album, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl,’ for the first time.
After which, they announced their engagement, where Taylor was analyzed to have received a Victorian-inspired piece with an estimate price tag worth $550,000 (~PHP30.5 million).
