It is about an overlooked man who makes knock-offs for a living.
In a press statement, streaming platform Netflix announced on Tuesday, June 9, its newest offering, which is a Korean series starring Jo Jung-suk, Park Hae-soo, and Claudia Kim.
Given the working title of Paper Man, the series will follow Cha Myung-jo (Jo Jung-suk), a man who works at a company that makes imitation character stickers.
“Though he’s technically the head of his household, at home he’s constantly overshadowed by his highly competent wife, who’s a judge. However, when Myung-jo comes to create a counterfeit bill so flawless it can’t be distinguished from the real thing, he steps into an unexpected world he never imagined,” the logline read.
Park Hae-soo, meanwhile, will takes on the role of Oh Seung-eop, the First Deputy Director of the Anti-Counterfeiting Division at the Korea Mint, described as a “sharp, relentless investigator who stands in Myung-jo’s way.”
Claudia Kim will then play Ko Hye-seok, who is Myung-jo’s cool-headed wife and elite judge, who is then noted as a person “dealing with real dilemmas and family issues beneath the appearance of a perfect life.”
“Blending the tension of a crime thriller with drama, Paper Man (WT) explores the value of money, human desire, and the boundaries between what is “real” and “fake” as defined by society — with both humor and bite,” added Netflix.
Director Lee Il-hyung, who helmed Karma ane A Violent Prosecutor, will helm the crime drama, which will stream exclusively on Netflix.
