On Friday, May 15, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that qualified government employees, including military and uniformed personnel, will start receiving their mid-Year bonus starting on the same day.
According to the Department, an estimated PHP73.456 billion has been allocated for the FY 2026 mid-year bonus will be received by over 1.9 million civilian, military, and uniformed personnel in various government agencies.
Under DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2, the mid-year Bonus is equivalent to one month of basic pay based on the employee’s salary as of May 15 and will be granted to personnel who meet the following conditions.
They must have rendered at least four (4) months of cumulative service from July 1 of the previous year to May 15 of the current year; remain in government service until May 15 of the current year; and have obtained at least a satisfactory performance rating in the previous evaluation period or applicable performance appraisal period.
The required service period includes actual service rendered while in regular, contractual, or casual positions in the national and local governments, including paid leaves of absence.
Local government units (LGUs) are also covered by the granting of the mid-year bonus.
But the release of bonuses for qualified personnel in the provinces, LGUs, and barangays is subject to the approval of their respective councils and compliance with the conditions stated in DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2.
In his statement, DBM Secretary Rolando Toledo told, “The early processing of the mid-year bonus is a recognition of their sacrifice, dedication, and important role in delivering public services to every Filipino.”
“From teachers, nurses, soldiers, police officers, government employees, to those behind the daily operations of the government—this bonus is simply the government’s gratitude for your tireless, hardworking, and loyal service to the people,” the Secretary added.
According to Toledo, the funds for the mid-year bonus were released in full at the beginning of the fiscal year to ensure the prompt disbursement of the benefits.
“The DBM ensured that the necessary funds were released early so that the disbursement of this benefit would not be delayed,” he stressed. “The actual processing and disbursement of the mid-year bonus for their qualified personnel is now within the jurisdiction of the respective agencies.”
