The P-pop queens have been given commendation by the legislative body.
On Wednesday, May 6, the Nation’s Girl Group BINI headed to the halls of the Senate of the Philippines in Pasay City for a special recognition.
The eight-member team composed of Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena went to formally receive Resolution No. 46, which was filed by Senator Bam Aquino to commend them for their historic performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, USA last April.
The upper chamber, led by Senate President Vicente Sotto III, adopted the resolution to formally congratulate the octet for their milestone, and bringing pride and honor to the Philippines.
“BINI’s achievement serves as an inspiration to young Filipinos, demonstrating that Filipino talent can thrive and gain recognition on the world stage,” the resolution stated.
BINI made history as the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at the prestigious California music and arts festival last April 11 and 18 (Manila time).
During which, they performed their hit songs Pantropiko, Cherry On Top, and Salamin, Salamin, as well as other songs like Blink Twice, Shagidi, Zero Pressure, and Out Of My Head.
Aside from performance, they also highlighted Filipino ingenuity, as they wore costumes that highlighted the culture and creativity of local designers.
Meanwhile, after Coachella, the group raked in more recognitions and did appearances in the United States, such as their Global Force Award in Billboard Women In Music and their equally historic appearance at The Grammy Museum’s Global Spin Live series as the first P-pop group to perform there.
