Cinema One to begin streaming on iWant this March 24

Beginning Tuesday, March 24, the popular cable channel Cinema One is moving to a new era as it begins streaming on the ABS-CBN’s over-the-top (OTT) service, iWant.

Along with this move, the long-running Filipino movie channel, which was established in 1994, will screen irs collection of well-loved Filipino films to viewers anytime, anywhere.

The channel also showcases a diverse movie library, from blockbuster hits, to iconic and classic films, to the biggest stars, to foreign-dubbed titles and critically-acclaimed independent movies.

According to its press release, the launch day will kick off with the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival entry The Mall, The Merrier starring Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis, which will stream at 1:00 pm.

Viewers can also tune in to original programs such as The B Side hosted by Bianca Gonzalez and curated movie blocks including Blockbuster Sundays, Romance Central, and Restored Cinema.

The addition of Cinema One titles expands the selection of Filipino movies and series available on iWant, which also hosts livestreams of the Kapamilya Channel, Knowledge Channel, ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel), DZMM TeleRadyo, and MOR Entertainment.

Cinema One was originally launched as a channel named Sky 1 on June 12, 1994. It was later rebranded as the Pinoy Blockbuster Channel in 1998, before taking on its current name in 2001.

In 2005, the channel made a bold move when it stepped out of mainstream television to hold the inaugural Cinema One Originals film festival, which gave platform to independent filmmakers to tell their stories through a financial grant system until 2019.
