As tensions in these nations have been continuing in the past few weeks.
In its advisory, mobile fintech platform GCash announced last Tuesday, March 17, that it is waiving international transfer fees for users in the Philippines that will be wiring money to their loved ones in select Middle Eastern countries.
“Sending support to loved ones in the Middle East just got easier,” said the mobile wallet platform.
According to GCash, money sent from the Philippines to UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman will have no transfer fees, with no minimum amount required, from March 12 to 31, 2026.
According to G-Xchange Inc. (GXI), which owns the platform, it is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), whicch provides security to users.
This move comes after similar action have been done by telcos for the support of those in the Middle East in the past weeks, including GCash’s corporate sibling Globe, which waived roaming charges for calls to select carriers in the region.
Earlier this week, the BSP disclosed that overseas Filipino (OF) cash remittances reached USD3.02 billion in January 2026.
Personal remittances—including cash sent through banks and informal channels as well as remittances in kind—grew by 3.5 percent from USD3.24 billion in January 2025 to USD3.36 billion in January 2026.
