She has been appointed to another position within the cabinet.
In a statement posted on her social media account, former Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed her side following the decision of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to put her in another office, specifically as the new Presidential Adviser for Sustainable and Resilient Communities.
She wrote, “I am grateful to the President for the trust and confidence in appointing me as Presidential Adviser for Sustainable and Resilient Communities.”
“It was a privilege to serve as Secretary of Tourism,” Frasco furthered. “Together with our partners in government, local communities, and the private sector, we worked to strengthen the tourism economy, supporting enterprises, promoting innovation and culture, and helping sustain millions of Filipino jobs while expanding opportunities for communities across the country.“
The ex-DOT chief also said, “I carry this experience with deep gratitude for the workers, communities, and partners across the tourism sector whose dedication sustains our nation, and I look forward to supporting the Administration’s efforts to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of communities across the Philippines.“
It was last Friday, March 13, when the Malacañan Palace confirmed that Frasco has been reappointed to another office within the cabinet.
According to Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, Frasco, in her new capacity, will help strengthen the implementation and sustained follow-through of priority national initiatives at the community level as many areas across the country face increasing climate-related hazards and disruptions that affect local economies and livelihoods.
Castro also said the Department of Tourism (DOT) will be temporarily headed by an officer in charge, Undersecretary Verna Buensuceso.
Lastly, the President has also expressed appreciation for Frasco’s service at the DOT and conveyed confidence that her experience working closely with local governments and communities will continue to support the priorities of the Marcos Jr.’s administration.
