A feat for the country’s main gateway.
According to an assessment of Airport Parking & Hotels (APH), it has revealed the list of the Best Layover Airports in the World.
In the Best Layover Foods category, the UK-based magazine said that “having access to a good selection of food can make the longest layovers a lot more enjoyable,” and listed the 10 airports with the most total number of restaurants and cafés.
The Philippines’ main gateway, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila has been listed as part of that, ranking 7th with a total of 131 outlets.
As per NAIA operator, New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), it was able to score well for its diverse food scene that grew mostly since the consortium introduced new food halls and dining concepts as part of a broader push to improve the airport experience.
“Since then, even more choices have opened across terminals as we continue working to make every passenger’s time at NAIA more enjoyable,” it added.
Furthermore, it wrote in its statement, “It’s great to see NAIA earning international recognition alongside major global hubs just over a year into NNIC’s tenure as operator, and we’re not slowing down. More exciting food options are on the way!“
APH, for the list, evaluated the world’s 50 busiest airports based on dining options, food prices, lounges, and overall passenger experience.
In the Best Layover Food category, Singapore Changi Airport led the pack with 247 outlets across its four terminals, followed by the Chicago O’Hare International Airport in the USA at number 2 (with 210), and Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan in third place (with 173).
