According to the Malacañan Palace last Friday, President Ferdinand Maecos, Jr. has directed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to fast-track the completion of all pending infrastructure projects nationwide.

According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, the DPWH, led by Secretary Vince Dizon, is now working “double time” to meet the instruction of the chief executive.

Castro noted that  the temporary bridge connector, which will serve as an interim replacement for the damaged Cabagan–Santa Maria Bridge in Isabela, is part of the prioritized projects and with 89 percent already completed, it is due to open for light vehicles in March.

In Oriental Mindoro, Castro said Dizon personally inspected the makeshift bridge in Sitio Bongabong to plan the construction of a stronger and safer structure for residents.

The DPWH has also submitted a report to President Marcos detailing the status of major infrastructure projects nationwide, a list that include repair works on the Bukidnon–Davao road (completed in January); repair of sinkhole in Kennon Road (completed in February).

There, are also the ongoing repairs along the Apalit section of MacArthur Highway-Buhang Flyover in Jaro, Iloilo, and sections of the Maharlika Highway in Gumaca, Quezon; Samar; and Guinobatan, Albay.

The Phase I of the EDSA Rehabilitation Project, is now 49.4 percent complete and expected to be completed in June 2026.

Castro emphasized that the government is accelerating work on all infrastructure projects to ensure their earliest possible completion.
