On Tuesday, February 10, the usual broadcast of ABS-CBN’s flagship newscast TV Patrol turned into another viral moment on social media.
This, as the part where anchor Karen Davila made an introduction to a report made by reporter Karen De Guzman had a rather hilarious turn.
Just before she was about to toss to the video report, the former had a minor slip-up and instead mentioned her own name.
Rather than saying “nagpapatrol, Karen De Guzman,” she said, “nagpapatrol, Karen Davila.”
While the error in itself was already enough to bring chuckles, Davila’s reaction and attempt to correct it in a split-second delivered the impact.
Instantaneously, the clip made rounds on social media. But before the newscast wrapped up on Tuesday, the anchor had already clarified and apologized to the reporter over the error.
As co-anchors Alvin Elchico and Zen Hernandez jokingly teased her, Karen Davila quipped that she had already changed her own name to Karen De Guzman.
Although, they also shared that mistakes like this is a normal part of doing live programs like TV Patrol.
That apology was also followed by a post on social media by the Kapamilya news personality, where she wrote on X: “OMG… ay… Karen De Guzman! Apologies.”
In response, Karen De Guzman quoted the post and said, “Hahaha. Hi Ma’am @iamkarendavila!! You made my day po hihi.”
The moment has since reached various pages and circles on social media, with some users in unison in asking “kaya pa ba, dear?” to Davila.
Actress Maris Racal also joked about it on her profile and referenced Bea Alonzo’s iconic line from the movie One More Chance: “very basha siya dito. ako nalang ulit.”
Over a year ago, in October 2024, Davila also went viral for another on-air blooper when she crossed the studio in the midst of Noli de Castro’s spiels.
Similar to this situation, it was her reaction that became a subject of lighthearted memes online.
