PBBM meets with officials from technology company in Abu Dhabi

On Tuesday, January 13, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. met with the top executives of DAMAC Digital, led by its founder and chairman Hussain Sajwani, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for collaboration in the Philippines’ digital infrastructure sector, given the country’s potential as a hub for data centers, cloud services, and AI-driven technologies.

It was noted that the company has planned to investm for tge establishment the biggest data center in the country in Laguna, which will help position the Philippines as one of the data center hubs in the region.

The President guaranteed to extend DAMAC Digital high priority as they are investing in a sector the Philippines wants to develop,” the Presidential Communications Office noted.

DAMAC Digital is the digital infrastructure and data center arm of the Dubai-headquartered DAMAC Group. Originally launched in 2021 as EDGNEX Data Centres, the company was rebranded in June 2025.

It designs, builds, and operates data centers that support hyperscale wholesale, retail colocation, cloud services, and AI- intensive workloads, with emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and global connectivity.

On top of those, it looks to provide infrastructure that meets high-density computing needs and future digital demand.

The meeting between Marcos and Sajwani happened during the President’s working visit to the UAE from January 12 to 14.
