And she did it with flying colors.
In the episode of the ABS-CBN celebrity-reality program Your Face Sounds Familiar that aired last January 11, contender Alexa Ilacad once again wowed audiences with her transformation.
Her assigned icon for the week is original Filipino music (OPM) singer-songwriter Yeng Constantino, with the actress and host of Pinoy Big Brother being given the 2013 hit song Chinito for her performance.
As soon as she stepped out of the “iconator,” Ilacad already embodied her icon. This, as Alexa had earned a lot of praise from the jury, who noted the similarity of her voice with that of Yeng.
But in cutaway to the audience area, the singer-songwriter herself was seen happily watching the actress-host perform as her.
And just before closing the production number, Alexa brought another figure to the stage—Enchong Dee, who is also Yeng’s partner in the music video of Chinito.
After the performance, Alexa received messages from both Yeng and Enchong.
Constantino shared, “Sobrang proud ako sa’yo palagi as your ate. And alam ko na… grabe ang effort talaga ni Alexa sa programa na ito, dahil t’wing magkwekwentuhan kami, this is all that she thinks about. ‘Di nga siya nakakatulog sa gabi just to make excellent performances.”
“Ako, I’m rooting for you. I’m so proud of you,” she added.
In return, Alexa thanked the hitmaker, telling her that she contributed a lot to her being a music lover and singer.
“You’re really someone that I look up to and hopefully one day, kapag mapu-pursue ko ang music, I wanna follow into your footsteps,” added Ilacad.
For his part, Enchong said: “Ako, tayo, nakita nating lahat si Alexa from child star to now. Alam ko na sobrang sineseryoso n’ya lahat ng ginagawa niya. And ang kagandahan doon, nakikita ko kasi na nag-o-open up din si Alexa habang tumatagal sa industriya.”
The YFSF contender then responded to her fellow PBB host: “Thank you so much, thank you for being here… I love you always, my number 1 crush, always and forever.”
In prior weeks, Alexa had already emulated icons like Chappell Roan, Britney Spears, Blackpink’s Jennie, Zsazsa Padilla, and Kelly Clarkson.
