All effective today and in the coming weeks.
Following the end of its content supply agreement with ABS-CBN on New Year’s Day, broadcast network TV5 will be implementing its overhauled primetime and weekend lineups starting Friday, December 2.
On its weekday evening block, changes are aplenty as the Kapatid network scrambles to fill the void left by Kapamilya shows like FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, Roja, What Lies Beneath, and Go Ahead, which occupied the 8:00 to 10:45 pm block.
The first move made by TV5 is to dissolve the pre-primetime to access block called Primetime Primera and fusing it back to TodoMax Primetime Singko from 5:30 pm to midnight.
Jiggy Manicad’s Una Sa Lahat remains to be on the leadoff slot at 5:30 pm, with 15 minutes added to its runtime to end at 6:15 pm.
After him, the network’s flagship newscast Frontline Pilipinas with Julius Babao and Cheryl Cosim is once again competing with its major rivals 24 Oras and TV Patrol, although with a 15-minute headway as it airs from 6:15 to 8:00 pm.
Notably, that brings the entire slate of primetime news on TV5 to a total of 150 minutes, the longest in the network’s history, as well as for any major TV network at the moment.
After the evening news block, Viva Entertainment’s action drama series Totoy Bato starring Kiko Estrada takes over the prime 8:00 pm time slot formerly held by Batang Quiapo, which it will now be competing with.
At 8:45 pm, the Cine Cinco Primetime movie block will present local and international feature-length movies, with the inaugural presentation being the movie GomBurZa top-billed by Piolo Pascual, Dante Rivero, and Cedrick Juan.
But it is understood that it is only a stopgap measure as Willie Revillame’s Wilyonaryo is expected to begin airing later this January, while the network is also preparing its own slate of drama serials.
The scripted shows coming include A Secret In Prague with Enrique Gil and Andrea Brillantes, The Good Doctor with Iñigo Pascual, and My Bespren Emman with Shaina Magdayao and JM De Guzman, among other titles.
Frontline Tonight anchored by Ed Lingao and Maeanne Los Baños remains at its 10:45 pm slot.
On weekends, meanwhile, the network will be replacing Your Face Sounds Familiar with repeats of the 2020 horror anthology series Kagat Ng Dilim starting January 3.
ASAP’s 12:00 noon slot on Sundays will be occupied by reruns of Padyak Princess starring Miles Ocampo.
As for Rated Korina, the anchor’s talk show for One News, TikTalks, will also make its return to free TV and air every Sunday at 9:30 pm.
These programming moves come after ABS-CBN and TV5 cut their supposed five-year agreement last December following a dispute on the payment of share in the advertising revenue.
As a result, ABS-CBN inked a licensing agreement with ALLTV, where all of its original shows and acquired prorgrams on the Kapamilya Channel are now airing under the Kapamilya Channel sa ALLTV2 branding.
